Touch-A-Life Foundation inks pact with OU to nurture social entrepreneurship among youth

Touch-A-Life Foundation inks pact with OU to nurture social entrepreneurship among youth.

January 05, 2023 — Hyderabad, INDIA. — Touch-A-Life Foundation, will set up an OU-TAL Transformers Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation Centre at the Centre for Research and Development on the Osmania University campus to nurture social entrepreneurship, social advocacy, and social innovation among youth.

An agreement to this effect was signed between Touch-A-Life Foundation, headquartered in Santa Clara, California, USA, and Osmania Foundation on January 03, 2023. The OU-TAL Transformers Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation Centre will focus on nurturing youth through social business ideas, awareness campaigns on digital media, and research and development (R&D) of the latest digital technology solutions.

All these were focused on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations to solve problems for underserved communities. The Touch-A-Life Foundation agreed to provide hybrid online and on-campus learning boot camps for Social Entrepreneurship Certification to OU students.

The certification would cover fundamentals of Social Entrepreneurship, Social Impact and UN Sustainable Development, Business Model Canvas for Social Enterprises, and Business Planning and Fundraising Fundamentals in addition to Marketing Fundamentals and Branding Planning, Finance Fundamentals and Financial Planning, and Careers in Social Entrepreneurship.

It would also focus on Conducting Mini Quarterly Pitch-fests and Annual Global Hackathons for Social Entrepreneurship ideas from students with submission of innovative ideas through the TAL Transformers international judging panel from prominent industries and academia. Cash prizes for the top three social innovation ideas every year, besides guidance and mentorship for fundraising with venture capital and national grants, would also be ensured.

Osmania University agreed to provide facilities to hold a social entrepreneurship pitch-fest, learning programs, and an incubation center for R&D of social innovation ideas by OU students.

The goal of this program is to spark social entrepreneurship in students from OU and guide them to create sustainable solutions to solve social problems and help underprivileged communities.

It is a global program for youth to nurture social entrepreneurship and social advocacy among youth. The program’s global chair is Veena Gundavelli, co-founder of Touch A Life Foundation and a prominent technology entrepreneur and alumni from OU ECE, now based in Silicon Valley and Hyderabad.

The hybrid event will celebrate individuals and organizations committed to supporting global sustainability goals through kindness and giving

August 23 2022 — Cupertino, Calif. — Touch-A-Life Foundation, a non-profit organization founded on the principle that helping others is good for society, today announced TAL World Kindness Day 2022, taking place virtually and at the Santa Clara Convention Center on November 19, 2022.

As the global supply chain continues to endure the long-term effects of the COVID-19 pandemic amidst the Russia-Ukraine war, global growth is expected to slow by nearly 3% according to the World Bank’s 2022 Global Economic Prospects report. This economic decline directly impacts underprivileged and underrepresented populations, restricting the availability of food, water, clothing, housing, healthcare, and other basic human essentials as outlined in the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The hybrid, day-long event will unite non-profits, corporates, youth, philanthropists, and citizens from around the world, who are committed to creating a sustainable future through kindness and giving. Featuring over 100 world-class leaders and dozens of sustainability experts, TAL World Kindness Day 2022 will include inspiring keynotes, educational panel discussions, diverse local entertainment, and networking opportunities. A cornerstone of World Kindness Day, the TAL Hero Awards ceremony will recognize those who are driving sustainability and social impact within their local communities and the world at large. Previous award recipients include Mattie Scariot, Director of Poppy Jasper International Film Festival, for her incredible work in film festivals and community development, and Isabella Spar, a local youth hero, recognized for her relentless efforts in donating a bell to every radiation center to inspire hope. Additionally, the event will highlight the five pillars of the TAL Ecosystem:

TALScouts^®: Volunteer program for youth that inspires social innovation and community service.
TALLeaders^®: Social entrepreneurship mentorship program led by world-leading social transformation experts.

TAL World Kindness Day 2022 is supported by many diverse charter members, schools, and non-profit organizations, including the San Jose Unified School District, Santa Clara Unified School District, A Precious Child, the North Texas Food Bank, Solix Technologies, Minds, and 5Element Homes.

Touch-A-Life Foundation Adds Chris Funk as New Board Advisor

Superintendent of East Side Union High School District will inspire the next generation of student volunteers, supporting TALScouts program

March 25 2021 — Cupertino, Calif. — Touch-A-Life Foundation, a non-profit organization to support the needy and underprivileged, today added Chris Funk as its newest board advisor.

As a TALScouts board advisor, Chris will help provide his educational expertise and resources to further develop the TALScouts program, encouraging students to volunteer to give back to their community. Touch-A-Life’s TALScouts program is designed to build social entrepreneurship skills, access to corporate internships, while earning voluntary hours by bringing the local community needs to the TALGiving crowdfunding platform, all virtual—so that they can continue to learn and help out their local community from a distance.

“The TALScouts program will be a game changer for students desperately wanting to bring to life what they are learning in theory and apply it to solving real world problems. High school students have demonstrated their creative spirit during this pandemic and want to actively respond to social justice issues intersecting their lives.” Chris Funk

Chris is currently the Superintendent of East Side Union High School District. A native of San Jose, he received his MA in Social Science from San Jose State University in 1991. Chris has been in public education for the past twenty-nine years working in San Jose Unified for the past eighteen years; fourteen as an administrator.
